PHOTONICS CENTER HANOVER
Development and production of photonics in Germany
Our photonics hub in Hanover, Germany, features Optical Design and Engineering, Prototyping, Assembly, Construction, and Electrical Engineering in a state-of-the-art facility – including a cleanroom. Our experienced team assembles over 100 neoLASE laser systems per year and also produces optomechanical assemblies – including adjustment, calibration, and testing – as a subcontractor.
DESIGN AND PRODUCTION CENTER KRAKÓW
Development and production of thermal management systems, electronics, and software in Poland.
With engineering and manufacturing under one roof, our newly expanded technology center in Kraków specializes in the development of thermoelectric and compressor-based thermal management solutions, as well as electronics and software. Our experienced team also assembles optomechanics, electronics, and thermal systems as subcontractors. In addition, our own cooling kits, recirculating chillers and other thermal management solutions are both developed and produced on-site.
Our engineering team is highly skilled in CAD design (SolidWorks), schematic and PCB design and layout, and CFD simulation (SolidWorks). We bring extensive experience in designing reliable thermoelectric cooling systems and compact gas load compressor systems. Local quality management ensures thorough documentation, revision control, and BOM management.
Our production team is trained in brazing, assembly, and testing. We validate our products using dedicated test equipment and climate chambers. Each unit undergoes functional and thermal testing, in-house leakage testing, helium leak detection, and high-voltage discharge testing.
Supported by experienced Business Line Management, our team of engineers and technicians is ready to take on your challenges.
DESIGN AND PRODUCTION CENTER PAIGNTON
Advanced photonics packaging, optical alignment, and precision assembly in the United Kingdom.
Located at the Electronics and Photonics Innovation Centre (EPIC) in Paignton, our Bay Photonics technology center specializes in assembly and packaging for semiconductor photonic devices, including Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs), lasers, sensors, and detectors. Our engineering team supports customers from proof of concept and prototyping through to low-volume and high-mix production.
Our capabilities include die and wire bonding, fiber alignment and coupling, hermetic sealing, seam welding, as well as optical and electronic testing. Using advanced manual, semi-automatic, and fully automated equipment, we achieve micron-level optical alignment and reliable integration of optics, electronics, ceramics, and TECs.
Unlike standardized high-volume manufacturing environments, the site is optimized for demanding photonics projects with varying designs, changing requirements, and smaller production quantities. We support customers who require precision assembly, rapid iterations, and a practical path from development to industrial production.
The site operates dedicated cleanroom and precision assembly facilities and is certified according to ISO 9001:2015. Our team also supports Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Test (DFT), and New Product Introduction (NPI), helping customers transfer demanding photonics applications into reliable and manufacturable products.
DESIGN CENTER DAVENTRY
Photonics facility with cleanroom in the UK
Our experienced team covers optical design, CAD, CAE, and characterization as well as prototyping, simulation, and testing. Equipped with an ISO class 8 cleanroom and an ESD protected area, Daventry is also the home of our Elforlight lasers.

FAQ:
Engineering and Production Services
What engineering and production services does AMS Technologies provide?
AMS Technologies supports customers with engineering, prototyping, assembly, integration, testing, and production. Our teams work across photonics, thermal management, electronics, and software. Customers can use individual services or transfer complete work packages to us.
When should a company use external engineering and production services?
External support is useful when internal expertise or production capacity is limited, or when building new structures would require significant time and investment. It can also help companies respond quickly to new projects, changing demand, or product launches. AMS Technologies provides access to experienced teams and established European facilities.
Can AMS Technologies complement our existing capabilities?
Yes. Our services are designed to complement rather than replace a customer’s internal teams. We can take responsibility for a specific engineering discipline, production stage, or testing task. This allows customers to retain their established processes while filling capability or capacity gaps.
Can AMS Technologies support the transition from prototype to production?
Yes. We support projects from initial concepts and prototypes through industrialization and recurring production. Engineering and production teams work closely together to identify manufacturing and testing requirements early. This creates a more practical path from development to a repeatable production process.
What production volumes does AMS Technologies support?
Our facilities are particularly suited to high-mix, low- to medium-volume production. This includes technically demanding products with varying configurations, smaller batches, or frequent design changes. We combine flexible production processes with the documentation and quality control required for consistent results.
Which photonics engineering and production capabilities are available?
Our European photonics facilities provide optical design, simulation, prototyping, optomechanical assembly, optical alignment, calibration, and testing. Capabilities also include photonics packaging and the integration of optics, electronics, ceramics, and thermoelectric components. Dedicated cleanroom and precision assembly environments are available for sensitive applications.
Which thermal management services does AMS Technologies provide?
Our thermal engineering teams develop thermoelectric and compressor-based cooling systems, including cooling kits and recirculating chillers. Capabilities include CAD design, CFD simulation, assembly, brazing, and thermal testing. Products and subsystems can be developed and produced within the same facility.
Does AMS Technologies provide electronics and software engineering?
Yes. Our capabilities include electronic circuit development, schematic design, PCB design and layout, control electronics, and embedded software. These services can be provided independently or combined with optical and thermal engineering. This interdisciplinary approach helps reduce interface risks within complex systems.
What testing and quality services are available?
AMS Technologies provides functional, thermal, electrical, environmental, and leakage testing according to the requirements of the product. Dedicated test equipment and climate chambers support development validation and production testing. Documented processes, revision control, and bill-of-materials management help maintain consistent quality and traceability.
Why use European engineering and production services from AMS Technologies?
European facilities provide short communication paths, close cooperation, and direct access to engineering and production teams. Customers can expand their capabilities without establishing additional internal facilities or committing to permanent production capacity. Keeping critical activities in Europe can also support customer, regulatory, procurement, or supply chain requirements.
