Fish & chips and photonics – our Europe XXIV meeting

Fish and chips, photonics, and three days together on the English Riviera.

Our 24th Europe Meeting in Torquay gave us time beyond the usual day-to-day work to get to know each other personally and learn more about the different teams and perspectives across AMS Technologies.

At the EPIC Centre in Paignton, we also got to know the technologies and capabilities of our new colleagues from Bay Photonics. Seeing their work first-hand showed the precision, experience, and pride behind it, as well as the close links within Torbay’s “fish and chips” high-tech ecosystem.

Our guest speakers added context: the Earl of Devon welcomed us to the region, Chris Wardle showed how the Torbay Hi-Tech Cluster and the EPIC Centre bring companies, technology, and local expertise together, Bob Musk took us through the “History of Torbay Technology,” and Steve Caunter highlighted the close ties with South Devon College. We also looked at where AMS Technologies stands today and discussed the next steps in our development.

A big thank you to Nataliia for the organization, to all AMS Technologies colleagues who made the trip, despite a very tight connection for some, and especially to our new colleagues from Bay Photonics for hosting us.

Good food, good weather, and a party that continued well into the night were part of the experience. The three days gave us time to understand each other better, see the expertise we now have across the company, and strengthen the personal connections behind our work.
